Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. What is something about living in this country that you value? 'This country' is whatever country you call home.
Freedom.
2. What is a favorite something you own that is red, white, and/or blue?
Gosh, I'm totally stumped on this one!  I've been trying to think of something that I own that's those colors, and I'm coming up with 'nada'!
3. Do you fly a flag at your house on patriotic holidays?
We used to, but decided the flag hanger didn't appropriately display the flag.  I have the flag on my mailbox cover.
4. What ingredients do you think should be included in a great picnic basket?
Fried chicken, chips, grapes, wine.
5. What is one interesting piece of trivia you know? Interesting is of course a relative term.
Swedish couples often go to Denmark to get married since alcohol is less expensive there.
Bonus:  There is a park in Denmark that is opened to celebrate American Independence Day.
(Thank you, CH for those facts that I knew but forgot!)
6. Wednesday, May 24th is National Escargot day...have you ever tried them? Eww or ooh?
EWWWWW! (No, I haven't tried them.  Just the thought of it makes me gag!)
7. What is one thing you know for sure?
There is a God.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
Did anybody watch the past 2 episodes of Real Housewives of New Jersey?  I'm not sure how I'm liking the dynamics of Teresa's SIL and cousin being on there, but it sure beats crazy Danielle!  Teresa's brother seems like he's going to take Danielle's place...he doesn't seem real stable, and his wife seems to be very spoiled and immature.  I kinda like Kathy (the cousin), but her husband is Ca-ree-py!  If you're watching, what's your take?

  2. I can't watch the housewives shows - too much for me. I've seen snippets of shows and those little bits were enough. But I like your answer to #7. We have that :-)

  3. I watched a little bit the other night, the confirmation episode-Whoa! I guess they need the drama but I wasn't too crazy about the sister in law.

All husbands seem to have a lot of trivia in their heads : )

  6. I’ve never tried escargot, but one of my favorite movies is “Pretty Woman” (I know, sad, but true) and there’s a scene when she flings the escargot across the fancy restaurant—hilarious!

  7. I've only watched the first episode of the season for RHNJ (the next is on tivoo), but I didn't really like the husbands being the main characters in the episode. I hope they go back to having the women rule. I'll watch the next episode to decide what I think. Why do we like to watch a "Train Wreck"?? LOL

  8. Yes there is a God and imagine this, He even loves us! Wow!

I've never watched that show, but I did see a bit of the fight. I don't think I could stand to watch it for very long though!

    Have a great day!

  9. Now I want some fried chicken! That is some interesting trivia.
YES, I am watching RHNJ. I know after the first show I told my daughter that I'm not sure I can handle all the drama but of course I will keep watching. Yes Kathy's husband is weird. I think the SIL is a trouble maker and yes the brother is not stable.

  10. I am completely with you on the escargot thing. As Joyce said in her comment on my blog, if you can get past the slimy snail bit...but I can't. Gag.

  11. No doubt in my mind that there is a God! I just got my first flag ever. I can't wait to fly it in front of my new home. There's a spot already waiting for it. I wanted to put it up yesterday when David reminded me that those posts were coming down in a couple of weeks and being replaced. ~sigh~ In my excitement, I had completely forgotten about that. I was a little bummed. Escargot are okay. They taste like mushrooms to me which I am on the fence with most of the time anyway. Fun questions! I always enjoy reading your answers, Mary. Thanks for sharing!

  13. Picnics need sandwiches, grapes, chips and water/pop. Oh, man. Now I need to have one.

Our flag holder broke and now I am so bummed. I wish we had a flagpole

  14. Thanks for posting a comment about my new look--I wrote you a brief answer. It's crazy how obsessed I've become over this blog makeover. I want it all perfect now, but it's a work in progress--I just need to go with it. I appreciate your support!

  15. I can't believe I've never watched a Real Housewives episode, I am such a lame reality tv enthusiast these days (two kids under five tends to cut into TV time) - I MUST watch it, everyone I know is addicted. I've also hear "Mob Wives" and "Pregnant in Heels" are the new "must watches". How has time.

And escargot? Fabulous. Really. It's so good.

Thanks for stopping by, happy Wednesday!
