Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. What is one piece of advice you would give a 'just turning' 21- year old adult?
Be yourself and don't lose sight of who you are.  (Oops!  That was 2, wasn't it?)
2. Besides cooler weather (or warmer weather, depending on your hemisphere) what is one thing you are looking forward to this fall?
FOOTBALL!!!   GO BIG ORANGE!
3. What sound lulls you to sleep?
Rain.  We finally got some on Monday...all day long.  Nice and steady, enough to make you want to curl up and nap.
4. September is National Preparedness Month...does your family have an emergency 'kit' and/or disaster plan in place?
No.  I've talked about how we used to have one when we lived in SC (especially after 9/11), but we hadn't gotten one together here.
5. How has your blog changed since you started blogging? Or has it?
The posts are getting less frequent!  I'm having mega-trouble writing as much as I used to.
6. What's something you've recently learned to do on the computer?
I learned a couple of cool things to do with our computer IEP program.  I dont' want to bore you with the details!
7. Is a picture worth a thousand words? Elaborate.
In some cases.  Like this one:
This is a picture of OS right after the state championship his senior year.  He said that at that moment, he realized that high school football was over.  That was Small T own's 3rd state championship in a row.  (They're now at 7 in a row.)
8. Insert your own random here.
With the rain, the roof at one of my schools leaked.  It appeared to be confined to just the front hallway and front of the office this morning, but we're getting more rain.  The roofers were there mid-day to patch it, but I don't know if it's going to hold.  We really need the rain, but...!

On that note, head over to Joyce's to participate!

  1. We have had so much rain this year. And snow but then rain after that. It poured Monday, all day yesterday and is raining again today. NJ might float right on out to sea.

    Go Big Orange! : )

  5. 1. Pass that fake ID on to someone who really needs it. (Hmmm, maybe not the kind of advice you were hoping for? ;))

    2. FOOTBALL!!!!!! (Is there anything else? ;))

    3. Rain. With a few rumbles of thunder mixed in is even better.

    4. Sadly, not even close :(. Maybe we should work on that being that we have 2 dogs and a cat to worry about as well.

    5. It's not so much my blog (it's always just been whatever I feel like writing about) but my life that has changed.

    6. Take screen shots without having to google how to do it. Every. single. time.

    7. Check out the pics today and Friday on my blog :).

    8. Have a great Wednesday!

  6. I hope that patch holds on the school. That's terrible! I love the photo that you've shared. What an emotional capture, huh? As for your advice to the young, those two really go together so I would count them as one and it's great advice, btw. Have a beautiful Wednesday, Mary!

  7. My boys played football through high school too. A bittersweet moment to know you are a senior, but your football career is probably over.

  8. Our big rainfall was yesterday. All day long. It was glorious! But now we have to sit and wait to see what the next storm is going to do--she will be called Maria and I want her to stay out to sea!

Love that football picture! Reminds me of my bother when he played! And I'm with you on fall and FOOTBALL! Well, except the orange part. LOL

  9. We finally got some rain and the temp is wonderful.

My posts are getting less frequent also.
I did have two blogs that I kept up daily, now I barely have one.

  10. We don't get a lot of rain in California but it did rain on Sunday. I remember mid-afternoon rains with the windows open and napping at my dads cottage in the summer. Thanks for reminding me of that. What a sad moment for OS :(

Praying that the patch holds ... and the rain stays outside. ;-)

Hope your Wednesday was a great one.

  12. Sounds like we have some things in common--First-go big orange!!! IEP program-ours is crazy and I am still learning. When I finally learn, they change the program-sometimes I just want my paper/pencil back!

  13. I like the sound of a gentle rain, but not a thunderstorm. Even though I am now an adult, I am still rather scared of them :/

Very moving picture. It does say a lot...

  14. rain is great unless it comes in torrents and causes leaks, especially at school; but I do like lying in bed at night listening to the rain when it rains here! I liked the advice you gave for 21 year olds, think they would listen to all the advice I've read on other's posts today? All were good, but of course those 21 year olds have to figure things out for themselves :)

  15. We've had rain every day for the last two weeks. I'm pretty tired of it and my football player is REALLY tired of it.

I'm posting less too. Life is too distracting!

  16. Go Vols! Hope we're able to get the game this week! My husband may have a coronary, if we can't!
