Springy Wednesday Hodgepodge

1.  Thursday marks the first day of spring...to celebrate would you rather plant a garden or go for a walk in the woods? Would either of those activities be possible on Thursday where you live?
I'd much rather for a walk in the woods.  If you know anything about me, you know I can't grow anything!  It's supposed to be sunny & 62 on Thursday, so it's definitely doable!

2. When did someone last spring something on you? (or when did you last spring something on someone?)
Late January when OS sprung his move to Utah on us.

3.  We often think of spring as a time for new beginnings. What's something you'd like to start doing this spring?
I'd like to start walking more, or maybe even riding my bike.

4. Where do you like to sit in a movie theatre? When did you last sit there, and what were you watching?
We like to sit right in the middle of the screen, the first row on the risers.  CH & I went to see "Ride Along" a couple of weeks ago.  HILARIOUS.

5. When you meet someone for the very first time, what do you want them to think about you?
That I'm kind.

6. March is frozen food month (yes, really!). Besides ice cream (gotta make you think a little) what's your most often purchased frozen food item?
Frozen pizza.  Or chicken.  I buy the frozen chicken breasts on a regular basis.

7. What's something you avoid?
Housework, laundry, going to the grocery store, etc.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
On Sunday, CH took Laika & Pepper to the park.  We had a bit of a miscommunication:  I thought he said he was going to take them, but he thought he asked if we wanted to take them.  Anyway, when we take them to the park, CH lets Laika off of the leash and lets her run.  She has her training collar on, so she won't go far.  And, Pepper follows commands really well, so there's no danger of her just running off.  At least when I'm with her.
Not long after they had gone, I looked out of the sliding glass door and saw Pepper just sitting there.  Apparently she ran back home when CH let her off of the least because I wasn't there.  She's my little shadow; she follows me wherever I go.  I thought it was pretty funny, until CH said that she walked on the busy road that we live on.  It wasn't so funny then, but it kind of was!

  1. I think bike riding is on my list of things to start doing as well. My bike has been sitting unused for well over a decade now. I'm thinking this might be the summer where we teach our 4-year-old how to ride a bike - so I'm thinking it's something we could ultimately start doing together....

And nothing beats a beautiful walk in nature!

  2. #7-Ha! I hear ya : ) Although I'm currently on a spring cleaning kick. We have houseguests Saturday so that jump started things. I'm going one room at a time, so it's slow, but thorough and feels good. Hope I don't fizzle out before I've hit every room. So glad your pup made it home!

  3. Hi, Mary! That is a sweet story you shared for your random thought...our Bella would likely have done the same thing. She's my shadow, too! I use frozen chicken breasts all the time...makes an easy meal when Chris is traveling.

  7. Sunny and 62 sounds nice! We need some days like that to get rid of all the dirty snow banks we have around here.

  9. Yep - grocery shopping... I try to put it off as much as I can too.

I want to ride a bike more... just wish I had a place to ride it :(

  11. Hi Mary,
I found your blog on the Hodge Podge Wednesday list and noticed that you are participating in the A to Z Challenge. I put you on my visit list and will be checking in periodically during the month of April. I think I'll be able to relate to your writing since I live in a tiny town in East Texas.
    Blessings,
    Linda

  13. I am glad your dog is ok! I can't trust my dog enough to go loose.. My former dog i could but she listened to my dad better so i just kept her on the leash when i walked her. Plus people kept telling me she needs to be on the leash. Its kinda silly when people say that since she walked by my side most of the time. Anyway have a great week! Hopefully it warms up where you live. It was oddly cold this morning here. Its been in the 80's over the past weekend. whew!

  14. Oh my, what a scary thought of Pepper crossing that busy road.

I would like to resume bike riding too ... but our subdivision is right off a busy road so we have to load our bikes up and transport them to the bike trail parking lot. A pain ... enough to keep us from biking as often as I'd like.

  16. I want to go see Ride Along. It's gotten mix reviews around here. Now that you said it's good, I will go see it this weekend. Hopefully it's still in the theater.
