Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. What news story are you following right now?
I'm trying not to follow anything.  It's summer, and I've got relaxing on my brain!

2. What's the last thing you wanted but didn't get?
I can't think of anything right now.  There's not a lot that I want.

3. May 28th is National Hamburger Day...when did you last have a hamburger? Other than your own kitchen or BBQ grill, where is your favorite place to go for a hamburger? And for all you non-meat eaters out there...when you're invited to a cookout what is the one side dish you hope is on the menu?
We had hamburgers Friday night after we set up our campsite.  Five Guys has a good burger; Smoky Mountain Brewery does, too.  We don't go out for burgers very often.

4. How have your priorities changed over time?
As the boys have gotten older, my priorities have shifted from their needs to my needs.  After all of those years of not having any time to myself and making sure the boys had what they needed, I'm finding that there's time for me to be myself and spend time looking after me.

5. What's a favorite memory with your grandparents?
Unfortunately, I don't remember my grandparents.  By the time I came along, only my maternal g'mother was living, and we only saw her every other year.

6. On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being fantastic!), how good are you at multitasking? Share an example.
I'd give myself a 7.

7. How would you summarize your highs and lows for the month of May?
Highs:  getting in a weekend of camping; getting the word that I get to move back to the school where I was before I went to my "new" school.
Low:  Leaving some of my kids at my "new" school.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.
I just saw a commercial for a "no-touch" flush toilet.  Interesting.  Is it really necessary?  Honestly?  You wash your hands anyway, so what difference does it make if you touch the toilet handle in your own house?  Plus, I think that one of the reasons there are so many kids with so many allergies is that we sanitize so many things now, they haven't built up an immunity.  And now I'll get off my soapbox (so to speak!)!

  1. Some airports and big public spaces have them, which I can see, but I don't think I'd need one in my own house. Enjoy your summer and lots of R and R : )

  2. I'm not sure if the 'self flushing' toilet is good for our globe...think of all the water that would be wasted. Just dunno. Haven't see the commercial since we have no tv anymore [cable that is...we have a tv set for dvds]

Yep, time to concentrate on yourself...that is still amazing to me...and I enjoy it.

Congrats on getting to go back to your 'old' school.

  3. No kidding? A no-flush toilet? Maybe it would help for a start if people would actually wash their hands after they use the restroom! I can't tell you how many people I've seen leave a public restroom without washing their hands. Ewwwwwwwww. Thanks for stopping in at Cranberry Morning. I've enjoyed the Hodgepodge.

  4. A no touch flush toilet for home? Wouldn't it be just as easy and a whole lot cheaper to just wash our hands afterwards? ;-)

  7. Hi, Mary.
Thank you for your comment in my blog.

I agree with you about one of the reasons why there are so many children alergic to many different substances.

  10. Good for you, it is time for you to enjoy yourself and make "you" priority. I've enjoyed having time for "me" the past 15 years. It's great!

The no flush toilet.........maybe I need to check into those for our new home. Just kidding!

    Happy rest of the week!

  11. I didn't care for Five Guys the first time I had one but I have grown to really like them! Your camping sounds like fun and I'm happy to hear about your school location.

  12. You mean the automatic jet flushin toilet? I like those in public places but you don't need one in your home! How silly lol!
I like your #1 ! I try to avoid the news especially when the weathers great and baseballs on tv! If you happen to come to CA someday you should try in n out burger! Five guys is ok but they give you way too much! Take care! ;)

  14. I wholeheartedly agree with number 8. I see no reason for a no flush toilet! Something else to talk the public into buying.
