A White Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. When did someone last suggest you 'chill out'? Or, when did you last tell someone (or want to tell someone) to 'chill out'? Or, when did you last tell yourself to 'chill out'?
During our trip to The Keys.  It was me telling myself to chill out...several times.  Unfortunately, I can't share the situation.

2. What most recently caused your heart to melt?
This post from Knit by God's Hand. It's just the sweetest thing!

3.  "An adventure is only an inconvenience rightly considered. An inconvenience is only an adventure wrongly considered." G.K. Chesterton

Your thoughts? When did you last experience either an adventure or an inconvenience? How did you see it at first, as an adventure or an inconvenience?  Does it feel the same in hindsight?
It's all in the attitude you have. It could be an inconvenience or an adventure. When we were coming home from The Keys, traffic was horribly backed up around Warner-Robbins, Ga. The GPS suggested an alternate route, so we took it. When I was younger, I would've been extremely nervous about getting off of the interstate & traveling a 2 lane highway in the fog, but I chose to see it as an adventure. I definitely still view it as such.

4.  A Wendy's Frosty, root beer in a frosty mug, or a frosted chocolate cupcake...of these three, which one is your favorite 'frosty' treat?
Really? I have to pick just one? Depending on my mood, it could be any one of those 3.

5. Would you say your life so far this year has been more like a circus or a symphony? Explain why.
Symphony. The planets seem to be aligned right now. Right at this second, anyway, but I realize it could change at any second.

6. Since it's a 'snow day' here, what's your favorite song containing the word 'white'?
White Christmas by Bing Crosby.

7. If you had to leave the city you currently live in, what would you find the hardest to leave behind?
My daddy & my siblings.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
I'm writing this at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning. We're on a 2 hour delay for a little bit of snow we got overnight and early this morning. It's not a full snow day, but I'll take it! As I'm writing, this is my view out of my living room window:
Another quick random:
A blogger who (whom?) I follow through Friday Fragments has moved from Honduras back home to Louisiana. She shares some very interesting things about her life...then and now. Go by and check out her new blog, A Gumbo Pot. You won't be wasting your time!

  1. Sometimes those two-lane, alternate routes can be quite 'scenic' :) Speaking of scenic, I love the view outside of your window!

  2. What a gorgeous view out your window. Wish we would have had a similar view out ours. We have a slight chance of snow on Sunday ... more than likely it'll just be rain. :-(

  3. Schools here were out Monday and Tuesday, but they're back at it today. I went to the gym this morning and the roads are clear, although there is snow mounded up in parking lots, etc. Navigating parking lots this time of year is challenging. We have more than a foot on the ground, so a lot. It's pretty though! The Keys are a good place to 'chill out' : )

  4. I'll check out that blog. A 2 hour delay is a good thing :) Gives you a few more hours to get things done before heading out. My niece in the DC area is doing her student teaching; she always posts what is going on with the school schedule there with the weather (2 hour delay today). It was good you took the "road less traveled" and enjoyed it on your recent drive back from vacation :)

  5. I love the Key West however traveling in the fog is a little nerve-wracking.

  6. Your snow sure is pretty, but keep it far, far away from me! I'm in the countdown to spring mode!

  7. The Keys are so gorgeous. Fog is not fun to drive in. We drove through heavy downpours in Georgia and you could barely see a thing. Schools here were closed yesterday and some are closed today. We homeschool so just take off when we want ;)

  8. Sometimes it is nice to get off the main road and travel the back roads. I know you did it because of weather, but we do it quite often. I love taking pictures and sometimes you miss what God has given us on the Interstate. Enjoyed your comments!

  10. So glad you having a Symphony! Definitely White Christmas with Bing, that's what I said. The snow looks pretty.

  11. I'm usually telling myself to chill out since I tend to get uptight whenever I think someone else around me is upset.

  12. I enjoyed joining you today for Hodgepodge and followed your suggestion to read about your friend. I too live in La. albeit in the northwest corner. However, I grew up in the south central part of La. and my son and his family spent several years in Slidell and Mandeville and went to church in Covington, so I am very familiar with that part of the state. It was good to read about her. Come over and visit with me when you are in the blogging neighborhood.

  13. What a beautiful scene out of your window. I do not like snow but I do think it's pretty. :o)) And, since I, too, am a fellow Louisianan then I'm going over to check out the Gumbo Pot. What a cute name for a blog. Happy rest of the week!
