The Small Town is mainly a "working class town". We have an upscale neighborhood, but for the most part, it's working class.
We're also very "Kid-oriented", which is where The Kiwanis come in. The Small Town Kiwanis started in 1954 with 30 members; today there are around 90. They are in the schools, keeping the sense of and pride in the community alive. They provide scholarships, participate in road clean-ups, and raise money for children's groups.
The "Key Club" is a high school club that the Kiwanis sponsor. And, in the elementary and middle schools, they sponsor K-Kids.
I realize that the Key Club, and the Kiwanis are international; I'm just not sure how much of an impact they have in other places.
